Abstract
Plant extracts in the form of Phytosome are recently introduced in herbal formulations that provide better absorption and bioavailability, which increases pharmacological actions than the conventional Phyto molecules or botanical extracts. It exhibits better pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics profile. In-vitro bio availability of the lipid molecule is carried out to find out the content release pattern of the combined Phytosome plants extracts. Pharmacological activity is carried out with the combined Rivea hypocrateriformis and Ipomea seperia Phytosome extracts for investigating the activity against psoriasis to treat the chronic skin diseases. Formulation of polyphenolic phytoconstituents in a definite ratio with lecithin has been developed as a new formulation, branded as “Phytosome”, mimicking the natural intake of polyphones. Phytosome formulations show better bioavailability. A Phytosome which is a solid dispersion of an extract in a dietary phospholipids matrix, the ingredient can be compared to an integral part of the lipid membrane.
