Abstract

Background: Women thrive in a variety of professions, including space exploration and rocket science, among others. Women have an important role in the country's economic development. A woman of today can never be regarded backward in any form or under any circumstances, because she is already prepared to walk forward and side by side with her male counterpart. She had been barred for decades, but she is now breaking all cultural prejudices to overthrow the decade-old belief that women can only be better homemakers and carers for their children.
Objectives: To assess the determinants of work life balance of working women, identify the challenges faced by the working women and to find out the association between determinants of work life balance and challenges with selected socio-demographic variables.
Methods:Non-experimental descriptive research design. A self-structured questionnaire on sociodemographic, determinants of work-life balance, and issues faced by working women. The research population consists of all working women at IMS and SUM Hospital. The sample size for this study is 347 participants that meet the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a convenient sampling strategy.
Results: 27.7% of the samples had the most determinants of work-life balance, 71.8% had mild factors, and 0.6% had none. 0.9% of samples had the most issues, 95.4% had minor challenges, and 3.7% had no challenges. Age (0.053) and occupation of the head of the family (0.000) are associated with determinants of work-life balance, while monthly family income (0.002) and enough sleep (0.000) are associated with challenges faced by working women; others have no association with determinants or challenges.
Conclusion: There is now no profession in which women are not employed. Many studies indicated that women are more likely to experience stress, exhaustion, anxiety, and depression. Nursing administration should give adequate support so that employees can balance their work and personal lives.
