Abstract

During December 2019, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) observed SARS- CoV-2 (COVID-19), outbreak that grappled nearly all country worldwide and was declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization in January 2020. Till mid of July 2020, COVID-19 resulted in to millions of infections, and hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide, with a mortality rate of approximately 3·7%. Studies concluded that Covid-19 attacks on people with low immune systems or having certain pre-existing illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, cardio vascular disease, and respiratory issues and also those with under and over ages. Thus it is necessary to boost our immune system to build resilience in the body against infections. For strong immune system everyone has to improve Diet with low carbohydrate and protein-rich components to manage high blood sugar and pressure by consuming vegetables like mushrooms, tomato, bell pepper and green vegetables like broccoli, spinach and fruits rich in Beta carotene, Ascorbic acid & many other essential vitamins along with natural immunity supplements include ginger, gooseberries, turmeric, Apple Cider Vinegar, Coriander, garlic, Basel leaves ,Black cumin and nuts like sunflower seeds, Flax seed, pumpkin seeds and melon seeds (excellent sources of protein and vitamin E and supplements rich in omega 3 & 6 fatty acids). Plant based foods amplify the intestinal beneficial bacteria and generally gut microbiome fitness and overall make 85% of our body's immune system. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with Ministry of AYUSH India, Ayurveda medicinal herbs Clinical trials of ashwagandha with guduchi, yastamidhu and an Ayurvedic drink a kind of herbal tea or decoction of Holy basil, Cinnamon, Black pepper, Dry Ginger and Raisin are found to proved as a prophylactic medicine and unique immunity booster. IIT Delhi researchers in collaboration with a scientific university from Japan used Ashwagandha Kalmegh, Chirata powder, Giloy, Tulsi Beej, Mulethi are found powerful immunity boosters against COVID-19. Along with that 7-8 hours sound sleep, Staying Hydrated (8-10 glasses of water every day), regular exercising (Yogasana, and Pranayama) to improve metabolism and practicing meditation to lower Cortisol level consequently suppress anxiety and distress and avoiding Smoking, alcohol, other addictive substances are essentials to boosting immunity.
