The whole world is currently going through a difficult time due to COVID-19 pandemic. It is a time when various governments and organizations are devising ways to cope and survive the storm that no one really knows the way out. The impact on educational sector is huge as all educational institutions were forced to close to prevent community transmission. Nigerian university libraries are not left out, as universities are also closed in order to prevent the spread of the virus. The Federal Government of Nigeria had to place an initial 2-week lockdown on three states which are Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja due to the index cases discovered. Despite this, universities libraries still have to continually satisfy the information needs of their users as the main function of any library is to facilitate access to the right information for its community. In fact, if there is anything the world needs more now than drugs and vaccine, it is the right information to still the whirlwind that is blowing across the world. In the midst of this, there are lots of paradigm shifts which impose some hardships on the libraries and librarians as they cannot operate their businesses as usual. Nevertheless, university libraries and librarians seem to have also accrued some benefits during this period in terms of new services, skills acquisition and innovations. The researcher therefore, attempts to evaluate these, in order to see the pains and gains of COVID-19 on the university libraries and librarians in Nigeria during the pandemic period.
