The consequences of Regular Methamphetamine Use among Young Adult in Addiction Gadreen Center- Khartoum-Sudan (2022)

Abstract

Background: Methamphetamine is Substance use and mental health issues it is a potent and addictive synthetic drug classified as a central nervous system stimulant.
Aim: The study aimed to investigate the consequences of regular methamphetamine use among young Adult.
Method: A study was conducted on methamphetamine addiction among young people at Gadreen Center, Khartoum. The collected data were analyzed, as the number of cases participating in the study was 30 cases of methamphetamine addicts, where the data was collected through one of the questionnaire methods, which is the personal interview.
Result:  The study showed that the majority of methamphetamine safety cases are between the ages of 20-25, and by 86.7%. It also showed that most of them suffer from visual hallucinations, with a percentage of 96.6%. The study also showed that most of the sample members have a university education (76.7%) and (76.7%) of them work. The study also showed that most of the sample members came from different states of Sudan, but the majority of them came from Khartoum and the central states (83.3%), and that most of them live with their families (76.7%), and the results showed that (96.7%) of the study sample members are not married, and they were They come to the center from with their families (66.7%) when they started using methamphetamine, the results of the study also showed that (33.3%) started using the drug at 23 years, (86.7%) of the research sample knew methamphetamine through their friends, and most of them used methamphetamine by smoking (53.3%). (96.7%) of the respondents became happy when they used methamphetamine; the results also showed that one of the symptoms of methamphetamine use is dry mouth (100.0%), and (90.0%) of the sample members sleep more than before.
Conclusion: The study concluded that the short- and long-term consequences of methamphetamine use, both physically and psychologically. In the short-term, they lost money by 73.3%, and in the long-term, they had 100% dry mouth, and on the psychological side, all of them were depressed by 100% and on the physical side, they all suffered 100% tired out.
