Abstract

This paper determined the effectiveness of the two media of instruction, English and Filipino, in selected
topics in Biology using Quasi-experimental research. Two sections of Grade 8 students were the respondents of this study. The researchers found that the difference in scores of the two groups was statistically significant. Students who were subjected to English as a medium of instruction recorded a significantly higher posttest score than those students who were taught using Filipino. Thus, English as a medium of instruction is more effective in teaching selected topics in Biology.
