Objectives: The objective was to assess the level of knowledge guiding attitudes and highlight the perceptions of the military related to COVID-19 in the Cotonou garrison (Benin).

Method: This was a cross-sectional analytical study carried out from May 18 to June 16, 2020 in the Cotonou garrison on 836 participants with an anonymous questionnaire administered. To assess the level of knowledge, major and minor criteria have been defined. The level of attitude was assessed with respect to questions specific to the use of the hand washing device; the frequency of hand washing and the wearing of a mask. A proportion of general knowledge and general attitude greater than 50% is considered "good". The questionnaires were analyzed in Stata 15.1. An authorization has been requested.

Results: The mean age was 34.49 years. The male / female sex ratio of 08.05. Officers were the most represented (55.27%). The soldiers of the 1st Motorized Intervention Battalion participated the most in this study. It emerged that 12.61% had a good level of knowledge and about 95% had reported adopting a satisfactory attitude towards the coronavirus. More than the majority (87.62%) said that the pandemic had a negative impact on their way of life.

Conclusion: In short, the military's level of knowledge about the coronavirus is considered low. From these perceptions related, they have a good approach. Initiatives based on appropriate information sources must be developed to strengthen their attitudes for better impact.
