Abstract

Tissue engineering offers as an effective technique in tissue and organ repair or replacement  The Scaffold as a crucial aspect of tissue engineering has a vital function in offering a conducive environment for cell proliferation and and functional differentiation besides being a good mechanical support The restoration is mainly based on Scaffold characteristics such as composition, morphology, structure and mechanical effectiveness Over the years medical textiles have been widely utilised in clinical applications and are being elaborately studied as tissue engineering scaffolds But the merits of textile Technology cannot be completely utilised in cell regeneration owing to the variety of fabric structures Therefore attention has been directed towards textile scaffolds highlighting the importance of fabric design and the ultimate properties of cell behavior and reformation of extra cellular matrix The structure and mechanical behavior of the fabrics designed by different textile methods for various types of tissue repairs have been highlighted Also, the scope of structural design in the manufacture of tissue engineering Scaffold has been expected, and comprise profiled and certain special and advanced textiles structures.
