In most of the semi-arid regions of India, inadequate availability of water is the most limiting factor in agricultural and rural development. Those regions receive, on average, 400mm to 1,000mm rainfall annually, which if harvested and used judiciously, could support a higher cropping intensity. Checkdams are a key aspect in watershed management. By holding the monsoonal rains for longer after they have stopped, new and sustained irrigation techniques can be implemented which will in turn prolong the crop growing season. The construction of check dams has increased the crop production as well as crop yield. The present investigation was undertaken in Dahod district of Gujarat state. which has eight talukas, out of eight talukas two talukas Dahod and Zalod were selected purposively. From each selected taluka, six villages were selected purposively. Out of which three villages having check dam beneficiary farmers and nearby three villages having non-beneficiary farmers. Thus, total twelve villages were selected for the study. From each selected village ten farmers who are getting benefit of check dam and ten farmers who are not getting benefit of check dam were randomly selected for the study. Thus, total 120 farmers (60 beneficiaries and 60 non-beneficiaries) were selected for the study. It can be concluded that majority of the beneficiary farmers had low (up to `50,000) to medium level (`50,001 to `75,000), of annual income while majority of the non-beneficiary farmers had very low (up to ` 25,000) to low 40.00 per cent level of annual income.
