Abstract

Climatic changes are believed one of the factors put biodiversity in Malaysia seriously in danger. Study number 1, was carried out at Cocoa Research and Development Centre (CRDC) Madai, Sabah, Malaysia. The objective of this study was to examine the impacts of the changes in weather pattern on the insect composition in year 2005 and 2016. This study was carried out at three different areas using four different trapping methods of the insects. Result from this study showed that the insects’ composition has changed drastically in 11 years’ time.
Study number 2 has been carried by using three different method of collection. This study was carried out at germplasm area at Cocoa Research and Development Centre (CRDC) Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia. The aim of this study is to provide understanding in the changes on the ant’s composition in 11 years’ time related to climate change. Result showed that the minimum temperature was increase in Tawau by 20 C within 11 years’ time from 200 C to 220 C. Result also showed that the reduction in the number of ant’s catches and the composition of the ant’s families may be some of the impact on the climate change.

Study number 3, was carried out to examine the composition families of the weeds in different locality in cocoa area, to compare the composition of the weeds within 11 years times. All the samples of weeds collected using hand manual collecting method. All the samples preserve as a herbarium and deposit in Museum Flora and Fauna Cocoa Research and Development Centre Tawau Sabah. Result from this study showed that there are changes of weeds families and the density of weeds in this period of time. It is indicates that climate change give an impact of the composition of weeds at Field 28 Madai Sabah.
