Aim: The outbreak of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) poses an ongoing severe threat to global public health. The major clinical manifestations of COVID-19 include lung lesions and respiratory symptoms. Significantly, symptoms and injuries in the digestive system can also occur during the disease. At present, it is still unclear with respect to the relationship between digestive system and the prognosis of the disease. Our study was thus carried out to explore the relationship between digestive system and the degree of COVID-19 and outcome. Here, we mainly discuss the digestive symptoms and liver injury.

Methods: Data of the digestive system was extracted from 11 published studies with a relatively large number of cases with COVID-19, and the chi-square test was applied to find results with significant differences.

Results: The incidence of liver injury increased significantly in both patients with COVID-19 and those dead of the disease.

Conclusions: It may provide new ideas for the management of COVID-19, prompting medical staff to pay close attention to patient's; liver injury and switch the treatment modes as soon as necessary to improve the prognosis and survival rate of patients with COVID-19.
