In the era of COVID-19, one fundamental question that intrigues everybody alike is- How to attenuate the contagion?  This leads to another query: When countries with robust-health-care-system and strong economic base, are finding it challenging, how would countries with poorer health care system and weaker economic infrastructure handle it?  In order to address these questions, it shall be pertinent to learn from the ‘best practices’ set by some countries and create a tailored roadmap through scientific point of view. This paper examines the spread of the COVID-19 at micro and macro level through quantitative research by analysing data of 10 countries collected from ‘Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker’. The paper argues that the best practices, based on empirical evidences, collected from scientific research papers and from apex organisations call for a sustained overall population behavioural change as a long term measure.
