The COVID-19 pandemic has rattled the world we knew and has caused disruptions in the care and management of non-infectious diseases. Cerebrovascular events were not spared, and multiple studies from all around the globe have reported drops in the number of admitted patients in the stroke units and outpatients seeking care with the impression of stroke. While time is of the essence in treating patients affected by stroke, the safety of the healthcare providers and minimizing the reproduction of the COVID-19 disease is in high priority at this moment. Numerous publications have suggested methods and directives for the management of stroke patients during the pandemic. These instructions focus on procedures that can lower the risk of contracting the disease while caring for the patients. Although they are highly effective, the heavy toll of the pandemic on the healthcare system both from finical perspective and manpower, can make these guidelines hard to implement. It is also worth to mention that most of the countries that were hit harder with the disease and controlling the epidemic is challenging for them are usually the countries that are struggling with funds and resources to provide healthcare for the communities. Therefore, we are aiming to introduce a new guideline that is cost-effective and can yield high results for the patient while containing the spread of the infection without exhausting the healthcare system.
