Mothers Knowledge and Practice Regarding Asthma

Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways characterized by variable and recurrent symptoms reversible airflow obstruction and bronchospasm. The study aimed to assess mother’s knowledge and practice regarding asthma in Oderman  hospitals.
Material and method:
A descriptive cross-sectional hospital based study was conducted from in 2017 at Omdurman pediatric hospitals. The sample included 100 mothers. The data was collected using interview questionnaire validity and reliability of scales was checked by a pilot study. Data was analyzed statistically using SPSS version 16 frequency and percentage was used for the analysis of variance. P value was set at < 0.05 for statistically different tests.
Results: 
The results revealed that 76% they know what asthma means also know the sign and symptoms but 50% they did know the causes and just 13% compliance with mater dose inhaler and 40% go to the hospitals.
Conclusion:
In current study conclude that most of the mothers know asthma but they didn't compliance with meter dose inhaler. The study recommended heath education for the mother by video.
