Introduction: BASNEF Model is one of the comprehensive model that is always used to modify existing behavior in to new one. It is based on ‘Theory of reasoned action’ This model could improve all aspects of womens health,not only by raising awareness and changing patients beliefs and attitudes but also helps to encourage emotional bonding among people through their participations.  

Objectives: Objectives of this study are to assess the level of Knowledge regarding BASNEF model among staff nurses in urban and rural hospitals and to compare level of knowledge regarding BASNEF model among staff nurses working in urban and rural community.

Methodology: In this study quantative descriptive approach was used as well as non-probability convenience sampling technique was used. Data was collected by using structured interview schedule which consisted of demographic variables and question questions related to each aspects of BASNEF Model. Total sample size was 40 (20 samples from urban and 20 from rural hospitals)

Results: Staff nurses working in rural hospital, 2 (10%) had adequate knowledge,6 (30%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 12 (60%) had inadequate knowledge. In urban hospital 4(20%) had adequate knowledge ,14(70%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 2 (10%) had adequate knowledge about BASNEF model. Mean scores on the level of knowledge in urban hospital staff nurses 16.45 and among staff nurses working in rural was 11.90 respectively with mean difference of 4.55. the estimated ‘t’ value is 2.82 which was highly significant at p≤0.05.

Conclusion: After this study it was found that there was significant difference in the level of knowledge among staff nurses working in urban and rural hospitals regarding BASNEF model. It seems to be make awareness about BASNEF model among staff nurses working in rural community
