Abstract

Adolescence is a period when rapid physiological and psychological changes demandnew social roles to take place. The adolescents due to these changes often face anumber of crisis and dilemmas. In the earlier societies, whether literate or non-literate,the problems of adolescents were considerably simpler as compared to modern rapidlychanging culture. As the internet is a part of today’s culture that many teenagers cannoteven imagine what the world was like before the internet existed. Today, in the globalera, teenagers are heavily addicted to the internet, which can often lead them todepression, with little or no face to face time with others. The role of today’s teacher, parents and society has become very challenging, complex and multi-faceted.Especially in today era teacher has to work as a researcher as well as facilitator forguiding adolescents. Apart from educational guidance, psychology and emotionalsupport shall equip the adolescent. Guidance by the teachers and parents can make theadolescents more confident in taking their decisions intellectually. The present scenarioclearly shows that the condition of our adolescents is deteriorating these days. So thereis a great need to equip our youth with life skills and moral values so that they can copewith the challenges and the pressure they face in their critical period.
