The authors developed an innovative technique called Hemolasertherapy (HLT) which will be described in clinical cases. The advantage of this technique over conventional ones is that it is non-surgical and simple to perform. HLT is the result of blood-based hemotherapy treatments, where blood drops from the periodontal ligament are used in the black areas and stimulated with laser photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy. Objective: the purpose of this presentation is to report the option of a non-surgical treatment for the recovery of the interdental papillae which stimulates the growth of the gingival papillae and permanently fills black spaces. The loss of gingival tissue, which forms the interdental papilla, produces what in dentistry is called black spaces.
Methods: PBM used a 660 nm diode laser (Duo Laser, MMO-São Carlos, SP, Brazil), contact mode, immediately after bleeding (according to PBM). The parameters used were: power: 100mW, CW; tip diameter: 5mm; E: 2J per point; area: 3 points on each papilla; exposure time of each point: 20 seconds, at 1-week intervals; number of the sessions: 3 to 5. Simultaneously, a preliminary in vitro study was carried out to demonstrate what can happen at the cellular level in clinical cases of hemotherapy associated with the application of the PBM laser.
Results: The in vitro study, and showed that the blood clot originated from the bleeding caused in the gingival region is rich in mesenchymal stem cells. PBM allows preservation, viability and additional differentiation, stimulating the return of gingival stem cells, which support their survival and differentiation in the blood clot, favoring the regeneration of the interdental papillae and their supporting tissues. Conclusions: According to the clinical cases treated and the follow-up reported, HLT was considered excellent in the stimulation of mesenchymal stem cells for regeneration of supporting gingival tissues such as the papilla, periodontal ligament and bone.
