Abstract

From a purely cosmetic standpoint, the value of the appearance of one's teeth has taken on greater importance in today’s society. Esthetic treatment of darkened tooth represents a great challenge to the dental practitioner. Various multiple options are available to serve the problem arising in esthetic zone. Porcelain laminate veneers are considered as most conventional and esthetic restoration that can be used to augment esthetics. The evolution of porcelain veneers started by Pincus, who attached thin labial porcelain veneers temporarily with denture adhesive powder to enhance the appearance of Hollywood stars close up photographs has now become one among the most recommended treatment for a dentist and a requested treatment by many of the patients.  The use of laminate veneers has been shown a feasible treatment option in the anterior esthetic zone. In this context porcelain laminate veneers, also known as “contact lenses”, are capable to provide an extremely faithful replica of natural teeth with great color stability and periodontal biocompatibility. With the eminent use of veneers smiles can be transformed painlessly, conservatively and quickly with long lasting results. Minimal or no preparation veneers are heavily advertised as the answer to patient’s cosmetic needs, when properly indicated by the dentist.Clinicianshould have enough knowledge regarding the composition and the properties of the materials in order to be able to choose the appropriate one according to the clinical situation. This case report discusses a patient having spacing in anterior region with discolored and old composite restorations in interdental region. The patient was then treated with porcelain laminate veneers in the maxillary arch for the same.
