Abstract

Neuromyelitis optic or Devic´s Disease, is a severe inflammatory autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system and often results in paralysis or blindness. In our province, the incidence is approximately 4 patients per year. Our aim is to characterizer patients with Devic´s Disease in Santiago de Cuba diagnosed between 2016 and 2017. We made a descriptive transversal study. The universe and the population sample were the same: 8 patients diagnosed with Devic´s Disease in Santiago de Cuba during January 2016 and December 2017. The relation between female and male was 7:1. It was more frequent between 28 and 32 years old. The principal visual symptom was blurred vision even before cerebral lessons appear in MR. It´s important to know the clinic characteristics of Devic´s Disease to make an early diagnosis.
