Abstract

The single crystals of [Na4(Cd2(C2O4)4.4H2O] cadmium sodium oxalate (CdNaOx) and [Na2Cu2(C4H4O6)3(H2O)3)3H2O]copper sodium tartrate (CuNaT) were derived by dicarboxylic acids using single diffusion chemical reaction method in the silica gel medium at the ambient temperature. The synthesized metal complexes of CdNaOx and CuNaT were tested for single crystal XRD, spectral, Thermal, luminescence, dielectric, and solubility (distilled water at 20-29 °C) studies. The monoclinic crystal structures of these present samples were confirmed by the single crystal XRD. The essential functional groups were identified by FTIR spectroscopy. The nonlinear optical parameters and dielectric parameters of the CdNaOx and CuNaT single crystals were calculated by the UV-Vis-NIR, Dielectric and PL studies to explore the third harmonic generation efficiency(THG)of the as-grown crystals. The thermal stability, Melting point and Phase transition temperatures of the CdNaOx and CuNaT single crystals were analyzed by the TGA/DTA analysis at different decomposition stages for the non linear optical and biological applications. Anti-oxidant activity was determined by 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH) assay, the antimicrobial activity assayed against E. coli (G -Ve), Staphylococcus (G +Ve), Aspergillus Niger and candida Albicans (Fungus) according to agar well diffusion method. The inter and intra molecular hydrogen bonds and the Metal-oxygen bonds of the present newly synthesized samples much improved their optical, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities and found their applications in the non linear optical  and pharmaceutical fields.
