Abstract
To formulate and evaluate the bisoprolol hemifumarate emulgel utilizing carbopol 934P with enhancer thymus oil and olive oil. An antihypertensive emulgel was formulated utilizing a gelling agent carbopol 934P, thymus oil and olive oil were utilized as permeation enhancer. The emulsion formulations were added in base gel. The emulgel was characterized for pH, spreading studies, centrifugation, rheological studies, stability studies, skin irritation studies, in vitro and ex vivo release and permeability studies. Emulgel formulations observed best physicochemical properties, formulations F1 and F5 indicated best in-vitro release when compared with other preparations . Bisoprolol hemifumarate emulgel containing carbopol 934P and enhancer thymus oil and olive oil could be further developed for topical drug delivery system.
