Abstract

Plants have been well established for medicinal and aesthetic values. The extracts of plants have been used since time immemorial to treat various ailments. The green process for the synthesis of nanoparticles is evolving into an important branch of nanotechnology. It has many advantages such as economical, easily available and eco-friendly process. The present study investigated the synthesis of silver nanoparticles from 1mM of silver nitrate (AgNO3) solution through aqueous extracts of different fruit seeds (Citrus limetta (A), Achras sapota (B), Annona squamosa (C), Pithecellobium dulce (D), Vitis vinifera (E) and Ziziphus mauritiana (F) ) which act as a reducing agent as well as capping agent. The silver nanoparticles is confirmed by its color changes of fruit seed extracts and further conformed with the help of UV-Visible spectroscopy. The morphology of silver nanoparticles was characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and FT-IR spectra. Moreover, their anti-bacterial activity, cytotoxicity and phytotoxicity studies were evaluated. The present study concluded that fruit seed mediated silver nanoparticles were highly effective as antibacterial and anticancer agent. Therefore, there has been a growing interest in the use of fruit seed as a promising source of more efficient new therapeutic anticancerous drug. It is clear from the synergistic activity that silver nanoparticles enhanced the activity of antibiotics.
